Personal tax account linked to self-assessment

I have already Government Gateway ID, my password and UTR no. I login in my account and and click 'self-assessment', after that click 'request access to self-assessment', I will receive an activation code within 10 days. I would like to confirm is the procedure is correct to link my self-assessment to my personal tax account after I enter the activation code in the required pages. THANK YOU.

When you access the Self Assessment section on your account, it will ask you for the activation code if you have already requested one.
