I paid CGT in November 2022 through HMRC's CGT system but it's not showing now in my self assessment calculation. The figure I paid it's not showing in my self assessment calculation. How do I make this happen and How do I avoid paying it twice? Thank you

Hi,

There are two online capital gains services.

One for reporting capital gains tax paid on the disposal of UK residential property and land (PPDCGT) and for other types of capital gain,
such as shares and the disposal of assets etc, there is a Capital Gains Tax Realtime Transaction Service.

On the paper SA108 supplemetary page :

Capital Gains Tax summary  ,

there are boxes for each type of gain and for "tax on gains already charged".

If you have completed your tax return online, you can log into it and amend the relevant capital gains section to show the tax already paid.

For example the property section has a box "Total gains or losses on UK residential property reported on Capital Gains Tax UK Property Disposal returns"
and below it "Tax on UK residential property gains reported on Capital Gains Tax UK Property Disposal returns already charged".

Entering the gains and the tax paid here, will give a corresponding credit on the SA302 calculation .

Thank you.
