Dear HMRC, kindly help: - checked and qualified as non tax resident for 2022/23. - has overseas interest income and some cgt (1) Is there a need or not to file self assessment? (2) if there is no need , but still filed self assessment, would it cause any consequences? In the meantime, took a job with monthly wage of gbp1800. Worked from Feb 27 to Apr 5 in the tax year but employer set up using 0T tax code and was taxed 20% PAYE. As it must be lower than my personal allowance of GBP12570, what shall I do to reflect these so that no income tax deducted and the 20% deducted refunded?

Hi,

We are unable to confirm in this forum, if self assessment applies to your particular cirumstances. To ensure that all aspescts are covered, please complete the self assessment criteria tool.

Check if you need to send a Self Assessment tax return

Once you have answered all of the questions, you will be advised if a tax return is required.

Thank you.
