hi, i am uk resident from may 2019, not a uk citizen. do i still need to pay taxes on the interest from my ppf and savings account in india.thank you.dominic

No, as you are not resident and have no UK income there is no need for you to do a tax return.

It depends on whther you are claiming the remittance basis or not.

Hi HMRC Admin, I am a BNO holder and become an UK resident since June 2022. I haven't worked in UK and just have a foreign dividend (less than £500) and foreign bank interest income (less than £500) and no other benefit or gain in both foreign and UK. I check in HMRC website that I seem have to file self-assessment since I have the above untaxed foreign income. May I know whether my above said foreign income value need to file self-assessment? (that mean's any value of foreign income could be exempt reporting in self-assessment) Thanks.
