You will amend the 21/22 tax return at the self employed section.
Look for the box, losses brought forward and set against 22/23 profit.

The P85 will not close your Self Assessment account.
If you do not meet the criteria to file the 2022/23 Self Assessment tax return then you can check if you meet the criteria and send a submission to close online here:

We would need to access the record to review/update the details that do not match to then allow the registration for self employment to be processed.

If your wife has a personal tax account she can check and update any details that do not match:
Personal tax account: sign in or set up
And then resubmit the registration.

Hi Kjtax,
If the payment was received after 5 April 2023 then would be reported on your 2023/24 tax return.
You can check if you need to complete the 2022/23 online here:
Check if you need to send a Self Assessment tax return
If you do not then you can submit a request to close the 2022/23 tax return.

Submitted the Self assessment online but my personal tax account showed
Hi YY WONG,
You would need to login to your online account that is linked to your Self Assessment record to show the balance due.
If the online calculation showed a balance due by 31 January 2024 then you would need to make the payment using your UTR with a letter K at the end.
