I’ve done my tax return for 21/22 but have queried with my employer the benefit in kind figure they have given me for my salary sacrifice car. They’re not responding so some advice would be welcomed. I’ve looked at how the P11D works out the annual car benefit (using the P11D working sheet 2). I agree that the figure they give is probably correct - £4,996. However, the calculation on the P11D working sheet then goes on to make deductions for any payments made by the employee for private use. Would the monthly payments which I made for the car qualify as payments for private use please? If so, I assume they’d be deducted from the £4,996 figure to give my final P11D figure which would go into my self assessment tax return as a benefit in kind? Thank you in advance for any help you can give. Regards Rebecca

Hi,

You are correct any payments you use for private use would be deducted to give the final figure.

Thank you.
