Hello, today I was shocked when got information that my refund cheque reissue will take 18 weeks. I stopped working in UK and filled all papers on 9th February and on 14th got refund cheque which was incorrect (my name but address of my agent). HMRC adviced to send authorization letter appointing my agent to cash the cheque. The letter HMRC received last week, but when I contacted them to ask when the new cheque will be sent as the old one I asked to cancel, they told me that refferal process will take 18 weeks, so almost 5 months. I am more then shocked as never expected that I should suffer from mistake and that such big country HMRC is still operating so slow and even could not reissue new cheque asap. Not sure has anyone such experience and do really the new cheque issue takes almost 5 months.

Hi Lina Milasauskiene,

The timescale to cancel a cheque and reissue it is currently 18 weeks from the date we request the cheque to be cancelled.

They processed in date order.

Thank you.
