Hi I used the Payroll Benefits registering service a couple of weeks ago to register for payrolling BIKs (Medical only) for tax year 23/24. When I came to do this it appeared that it had already been set up previously & on phoning HMRC they informed me it had been set up since 21/22. I have worked for the company for 5 years, I have categorically not registered this company for Payrolling BIKs . I am wondering if this is a default setting by HMRC, as the handful of P11D's submitted in previous years have been done through the HMRC portal ie they have history on there as to what is submitted each year (as opposed to our other company whereby P11D's are processed through separate software - registered this payroll also for payrolling benefits 23/24 & this did not show as been set up previously). The option to deselect employee for this tax year can only be done for a maximum of 300 employees (each one separately ) and the number of employees I need to deselect is 450 as all had medical benefit this year which is planned to be accounted for by P11D. What is the solution to this situation & how can HMRC prove that benefits had been registered for commencing 21/22 by the employer, what evidence would they be able to provide. What will the impact be if P11D's are submitted (they were last year albeit only 3 & technically according to HMRC we were set up to payroll benefits that year 21/22). Incidentally I was promised a call from HMRC P11D Dept over 10 days ago ! Thanks
