One of our employees returned from long term sick leave on a phased return for a period of time before return to being on long term sick leave. During the phased return his work pattern wasn't set - couple of hours here and there, not set days/times. Normal working pattern is full time, Mon-Fri. My questions are: How do we calculate the 28 weeks on this working pattern? First day of sick leave was 20 Dec 2021. Using the HMRC calculator, end of SSP is 6 July 2022, but this doesn't take into account the part days he worked during his phased return. Do we pay SSP on full days only, not half days? If an employee, such as the above, works part of the day only, do we log this as a sick day or working day?
