I was born when child trust funds were given out to new children. I am now over 18 and would like to access it but I was never given a letter. I tried the "Find my child trust fund" tool on the HMRC website and got a letter back saying that Santander were the holders of my CTF but when I called them they said they had no records of it.

Hi
Your reply from HMRC, would suggest that the account was not closed or converted to a Junior ISA.
You would need check with the child trust fund manager, a they might be able to provide your with some additional information.
You may also need to take this back to the child trust fund provider for further investigation.
Have a look at (Child Trust Fund ).
Thankyou.

Sorry for jumping in here, but I’m new and don’t know how to post. Basically my son had the child trust fund, back in 2006. We had forgotten about it, until now, after watching Martin Lewis, I’ve found the account now. And the balance is £326. That is disgusting £126 in interest in almost 17 years. My question, does anyone know of any decent banks/building societies, with good rates. Tia

I am now 18 and was told that i could claim my child trust fund my mum gave me the letter but could not tell me what amount was in the account as she didn't have access to it before . i contacted the provider and was told that i needed to log on to forresters and create an account the amount in the account was only £446.59p forresters told me this was because of investments made by the government on my behalf and that these were the only funds i had .my family members all born around the same time as me have now told me that they received more than my sum. can you tell me what has happened and how to go about getting the missing money i am owed . as i have never dealt with the government before .

Hi, I adopted my Son from the Local Authority in 2009 and he is now 18. I have tried previously to trace his CTF - HMRC state they have no records and the LA can't trace where it is. Surely someone should have knowledge where his CTF is? Don't the LA receive statements each month/quarter of where the looked after children's money is?? My Son is autistic so can't trace himself. He has a bank account and this fund should now be paid into that. This is money my Son is entitled to and no-one wants to help! Can anyone offer any further advice please?
